When I was in kindergarten in Honolulu, all I wanted to be when I grew up was “a cooker.” I don’t remember if I wanted to be a rice cooker or a pastry cooker (rice and sweets being two of my favorite foods), but during my senior year at Boston University, I took a position as an intern at The Sapphire Restaurant Group. I guess they liked my work, because when I graduated, they offered me the job of Special Events Manager for Rialto Restaurant. In the spring of 2007, I opened Rocca Kitchen & Bar as a Dining Room Manager, and in the fall I moved into my current position as Director of Special Events and Marketing. I love making sure that everyone who comes to us with a request for a special event leaves at the end of the evening feeling that we met all their expectations. On special occasions, I still like to be a “cooker” at home.
